Is Cosmetic Dentistry Worth It? Why Or Why Not?

Let’s talk about all the major pros and cons. Because you all know that it is at least worth to talk about since it’s one of the most popular things lately. I’d like to begin with the  cons first (what an optimist, ha?). As you can imagine, most cosmetic dentistry procedures such as crowns or laminate veneers require a bit of filing from your teeth. That means damage to your teeth, one way or another. Even if it’s quite less damage like it is with the laminate veneers, it is still a “damage”. So you have to know and accept this before you pack your bags to go abroad for a smile makeover. 

Although there is another technique that requires no filing from your teeth which is called  “prepless lumineers”, it is not a straightforward job to remove it from your teeth. Despite its harmless preparation and fitting process it can be quite traumatic when it comes to its removal process.

So, why do all the people around the world go abroad to have smile makeovers done? What is it that makes cosmetic dentistry so popular and needful? 

Well.. Absolutely there are too many things! First of all, i would say “self-confidence”. The self-confidence that it builds after having to put up with an unpleasant smile for all those years… It’s definitely priceless!! This is one of the most common reasons for people to get smile makeovers done. Being able to smile freely without hesitation. Without the fear of being ashamed from their teeth. This feeling of confidence is something that words can never describe well enough. 

And sometimes there are obviously functioning issues with misaligned or worn-out teeth. If one cannot eat properly with his/her teeth then what good is it? When they can’t afford an orthodontic treatment or they don’t have the time for an orthodontic treatment, they can easily choose a smile makeover.

We all know the next reason; social media madness! Everyone wants to be seen on social media at their best. Perfect hair, perfect skin, perfect teeth! And guess what? Then you’re ready to shine immediately on all platforms! 

In a nutshell, cosmetic dentistry has too much to offer to those who seek a beautiful smile for any reason. And you wouldn’t sweat to find a reason (i’ve even heard people benefiting from its advantages in interviews). You just have to consider both its pros and cons and make your own decision. ‘Cause whatever the decision you make, you have to live with it. And remember; there’s no wrong or right, only preferences.
